Flyovers & Junction Improvements where work is completed - Mahim Causeway
The budgeted work of construction of flyover bridge at Mahim Causeway was considered
as a part of Proposed West Island Freeway. While designing and fixing the alignment
of this flyover it was decided to give relief to the congestion of traffic plying
from South Mumbai to International Airport.
After commencement of the work of flyover, "Maharashtra State Road Development Corp.
Ltd." was formed and it was decided that all the projects of flyover are to be executed
by MSRDC Ltd. and thus after the completion of 50% work of flyover, this flyover
was handed over to MSRDC Ltd. for further execution. This bridge is one of the 55
flyover bridges mega project of State Government and the cost of the flyover is
Rs. 15.95 crores.
The said flyover at present will help to reduce the traffic congestion on S. V.
Road Junction on Western Express Highway at Mahim Causeway, Mumbai. Now, the Central
Government has given clearance from Environmental Department for proposed West Island
freeway, this flyover will work as one of the part of the proposed West Island Freeway
in future.
