PROJECT BACKGROUND |
|
|
|
Development of high-density corridors and establishing high-speed connectivity has
been on top priority of Government agenda. As a first step in this direction the
Government of Maharashtra has decided to develop and strengthen the linkages and
connectivity of major cities of state with Mumbai, the state capital.
|
|
|
|
Exploring the viability of one such connectivity of Nagpur with Mumbai, which includes
links –Butibori-Wardha – Karanja – Aurangabad – Sinner - Ghoti alongwith link from
Karanja – Loni - Nagzari corridor, was an endeavor in this direction.
|
|
|
|
IMPORTANCE OF THE PROJECT |
|
|
|
i. |
The length passes through backward regions of Vidarbha and Marathwada. |
|
ii. |
The distance from Mumbai to Nagpur will be reduced by 50 kms. |
|
iii. |
It will reduce travel time considerably and will be cost effective. |
|
iv. |
It connects Industrial places at Butibori, Amravati, Jalna, Chikalthana, Shendra,
Waluj, Sinner. |
|
v. |
It connects Tourist places at Karanja, Lonar, Sindkhedraja, Verul, Shirdi. |
|
vi. |
It will boost employment through development of Industries in backward regions. |
|

GOVERNMENT APPROVAL |
|
|
|
The Government of Maharashtra has accorded its consent to this project in the meeting
of Cabinet Committee for Infrastructure held on dated 23.12.1999.
|
|
|
|
The Government of Maharashtra had declared
MSRDC as an “Entrepreneur” for this project vide its resolution-dated 15.06.2002.
|
|
|

The total road length of proposed Nagpur – Aurangabad – Mumbai road is 700.00 Kms. |

The corridor development is proposed to be National Highway Standard i.e.7.00 m.
wide Carriageway and embankment width at top i.e. roadway of 12.00 m.

MSRDC has taken up the work of entire project in four main sections viz. |
|

Amravati – Nagzari – Kherda – Karanja – Malegaon – Mehekar (172.92
Km.) |

3) |
Mehekar – Sindkhedraja – Jalna – Aurangabad (121.39 Km.) |

Aurangabad – Vaijapur – Puntamba phata – Sinner – Ghoti. (202.37
Km.) |

These four sections are further divided in Nineteen Packages for construction Package
wise physical position of project is as below.
